Calculating Risk: assessment, ethics and risk assessment in durational and site-based performance work with/by students

This PALATINE event is part of a broader programme of events, which includes The Pigs of Today are the Hams of Tomorrow, a performance festival, exhibition and publication co-curated in Plymouth by Marina Abramovic and Paula Orrell, and the Live Laboratory Symposium, which invites participants to witness durational performance works and engage in a dialogue about the issues of foundation and generation in performance and live art practice.

The PALATINE event is aimed at teachers in FE and HE and intends to explore the issues (e.g. assessment, ethical, risk, and health and safety) involved in durational and site-based performance work with/by students.

It will discuss the roles and responsibilities of teaching staff when supporting students in the creation of work in non-traditional performance contexts, and to develop strategies to safely support students in the creation of 'risky' work in an increasingly health and safety conscious pedagogic context.

All delegates attending PALATINE's Calculating Risk event will also be able to attend the opening of The Pigs of Today are the Hams of Tomorrow on Thursday evening, as well as a keynote presentation by Marina Abramovic and all live art events on Friday.

If Calculating Risk delegates wish to attend the entire Live Laboratory Symposium, then tickets for the Symposium must be booked from Plymouth Arts Centre (Tel 01752 206 114). Please book early to avoid disappointment.
