Event Description

A study day bringing together people working in higher education, practitioners and academics interested in collaborative processes in music making.

Its focus is collaborative processes in music making, their role in creative practice and in teaching, and the links between. The day aims to provide an opportunity to reflect upon aspects of the music making process that have in the past received little critical attention.

Directions

The University of Surrey is based in Guildford. The main University campus, Stag Hill, is situated close to the Guildford mainline train station and within a short walk (15 minutes) from the town centre.

The PATS building is located on the Spine Road in the central campus area. The entrance is up the steps or ramp beneath a yellow canopy.

Travelling by train

Guildford is on the main line between London Waterloo and Portsmouth. Half-hourly train services run from Guildford to Waterloo, with journey times of 40 minutes.

From the railway station

Leave the station by footbridge and rear exit. Turn right from the station along Guildford Park Road and take the second turning on the right. Follow the path through the park-and-ride car park to the campus.

ARRIVA buses (leave the station by the footbridge and rear exit, cross main road to the bus stop) operate a regular service to the campus. Services 17, 27 and 37 run approximately every ten minutes during the day.

Taxis leave from the main (eastern) exit of the station.

By Car

Guildford is 30 miles south-west of London, on the A3 London-Portsmouth road. If approaching from London or the M25 (Junction 10), remain on the bypass (A3) until you reach the exit signed to the Cathedral and University. The campus is very close to this junction. Simply follow the signs to the University, being careful not to follow signs to the Town Centre.

If approaching on the A322 or A323 from Bagshot or Aldershot, at the A3 roundabout take the exit signed to Portsmouth, and then turn off the A3 at the first exit (signed to the Cathedral and University).

If entering Guildford from Horsham (A281) or Godalming (A3100), leave the central gyratory system at the exit signed for Farnham (A31). After approximately 200 yards, at the mini-roundabout, take the first turning right into Guildford Park Road, and continue along Madrid Road and The Chase for a mile. At the next roundabout, take the third exit for the University entrance.

Car Parking

Visitors may park in the pay-and-display car park which is signposted from the main entrance to the University.
